NCAA Basketball: Examining all 12 programs in play for four-star Blake Wesley
Missouri Tigers
After recently adding three-star wing Sean Durugordon, Missouri is looking to build on its three-man current class. With guards Torrence Watson, Dru Smith and Javon Pickett all current juniors, there’s a huge hole on the 2021-22 roster for Wesley to have a major role. He’d have to be willing to sit a big as a freshman but would have three years as likely a starter. But do the Tigers win enough as a program to lure him away out of Indiana?
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Irish are certainly in need of more talent in order to get back to the NCAA Tournament, mainly in terms of providing depth both at the point guard and center positions. Shooting guard though is fairly stacked, with returning rotation players Robby Carmody and Dane Goodwin, along with Stanford transfer Cormac Ryan and Santa Clara sit-out transfer Trey Wertz. If Wertz works out when eligible, it’ll be a tough path for a newcomer shooting guard to get minutes as a freshman.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Even with the transfer departures of both Luther Muhammad and DJ Carton, the backcourt is in solid shape for next season and in the future. Three-star off-guard Eugene Brown is on the roster, along with leading guard Duane Washington, Jr. For Wesley, he’ll have to deal with another 2021 shooting guard in Malaki Branham, ranked by 247sportsComposite in the top-30 overall.
If he’s as good as advertised, this recruit in question will have to take a backseat starting out. That may be too much to ask for to get him for the Buckeyes.
