10. George Mason Patriots

It’s tough to envision George Mason as an elite team in the Atlantic 10, however, I like this team a lot on paper. The star-power at the top of this Mason roster is very talented. We can expect AJ Wilson to blossom into a first or second-team Atlantic 10 player. Javon Greene and Jordan Miller also are guys who can evolve into the 2nd and 3rd best players on this team. Xavier Johnson and Jamal Hartwell are solid role players who can flourish off the bench. The problem that the Patriots face is that they are not deep enough.

It is possible that a few players among the team’s incoming recruiting class can step up into huge roles but, none of them have displayed any star-power yet. I’d like to see this team surprise many people and succeed in the Atlantic 10 but, they have a lot of work to be done. If I had to nominate one player to break out from the large group of incoming freshmen it would probably be Otis Frazier. Frazier is a big who can drive and draw fouls at a high-level.

I expect the George Mason Patriots to improve from their 12th place finish which is why I have them at 10th place but, I’d love to be proven wrong but this young team. I still think there are chances this team could finish in the top 8 or even 7 but, I can’t see that as of right now. Don’t be surprised to see George Mason win some big games because they may surprise a lot of people.
