4. Duquesne Dukes

The Dukes should finish off with a successful record heading into Brooklyn next March. Coach Keith Dambrot has taken Duquesne from 10 to 11 conference wins over his first two seasons. This could be the year that Duquesne moves up to becoming one of the conference’s titles contenders.

Dambrot has a lot of depth to work with on this roster including star-power in guys like Sincere Carry, Marcus Weathers, and Michael Hughes. The Dukes also have talent in some of the solid returning players taking on big roles such as Maceo Austin, Tavian Dunn-Martin, and Lamar Norman.

Last season, by the end of the year they had mostly figured out that frustrating habits resulted in better play for better and worse. The Dukes swept Saint Louis, beat Saint Bonaventure, beat VCU, and put up two respectable efforts against Dayton. The Dukes could be poised for an even better season than last season especially with their talented freshman class coming.

It’s hard not to place the Dukes not at least matching their previous mark of 6th with what is essentially the same roster plus some good freshman joining the roster. This team still has a lot to prove on the court, however, on paper they are looking good when healthy.
