Iowa Hawkeyes

Biggest needs: Power forward and center

With Big Ten Player of the Year Luka Garza and key guard Jordan Bohannon both coming back for the upcoming season, Iowa Basketball is all in for a possible Final Four appearance. But the Hawkeyes will need to look ahead as well, with huge needs to address on the frontcourt. Right now, only the senior Garza and junior forward Jack Nunge are clear rotation players inside on the roster.

Three-star center prospect Yaya Keita is the main priority for Iowa in the 2021 class, along with 6’8 small forward Payton Sandfort. The Hawkeyes are set on the perimeter thanks to sophomores CJ Fredrick and Joe Toussaint but will need to find multiple forwards to help offset what will be a massive loss of Garza.

Maryland Terrapins

Biggest needs: Point guard and center

After missing out on a number of big men in the transfer portal this offseason, Maryland will have to try again in the 2021 recruiting class. They already have landed some quality forwards in James Graham III and Julian Reese, as well as top-100 shooting guard Ike Cornish.

There still is a need for a true center, with just Chol Marial on the roster for now. And with the entire starting backcourt all upperclassmen, finding another guard, mainly one who can handle the ball at the point position, can shore up any holes the Terps may have in the future. But so far, the coaching staff has done a great job on next year’s recruiting class.
