2. North Carolina Tar Heels

While the 2021 recruiting class has not yet come together for the North Carolina program, there stands the possibility that the Tar Heels will have signed 5-straight one-and-done point guards to lead their team. The group of Coby White, Cole Anthony, Caleb Love (likely) and Clark in 2022 is a strong list to consider as a whole. However, the Tar Heels history as a collective program and as a home of successful point guard play is an enticing selling point for the Brentwood transfer.

Under Roy Williams, the Tar Heels have an established identity of play and prioritize their scheme based on positional strengths. Lead guards with upside as the primary scoring option, as was the case with White, Anthony and will be for Love, have proven these skillsets thrive within the UNC system. Plus, guards not mentioned immediately above have been successfully carrying this level of production for more than the last decade.

Clark would be handed the keys to a blue blood program and given full freedom to create offensively. Signing with Carolina would be the unquestioned landing spot if Clark is looking to maximize his time getting ‘true’ point guard reps and showcasing all of his talents.

He would have significant opportunities within the offense to find his own shot, but Carolina has also been one of the most productive teams using the pick-and-roll. Implementing a sure-fire way to get Clark moving downhill with the ball in his hands provides immediate visions of a stressful night for the defense.

Speaking on how he feels about the program with 247sports.com, Clark stated “I’ve been building a really good relationship with coach Roy [Williams] and coach Rob [Steve Robinson]. Everybody knows, it’s UNC, they got an amazing history with players and just the school period. I love them.”

Although it was recently noted that Rivals.com’s Corey Evans made a switch in his prediction from Kentucky to North Carolina, it doesn’t feel like momentum is building quick enough for the Tar Heels despite his natural on-court fit.
