Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Leading scorer Mike Devoe is a legit candidate to leave after next season, so there’s good reason as to why the Yellow Jackets would try to land a shooting guard in the 2021 class. And considering that both Jose Alvarado and Jordan Usher are also seniors, there’s a good shot that Coleman can come in as a freshman and have a significant role.

Being in the ACC and having a nice role is appealing for any prospect but there’s a concern that head coach Josh Pastner doesn’t make it for another year if they don’t make the NCAA Tournament. And even if he does return, Coleman wouldn’t have a ton to work with anything if Devoe truly does depart. Either way, there are both short and long-term cons in this situation besides playing time.

Iowa State Cyclones

The Cyclones would love to add another top-100 player to pair with point guard Tyrese Hunter, the teams only commit so far. The team has done a very good job adding perimeter players to help offset the loss of Tyrese Haliburton, landing transfers Jalen Coleman-Lands and Tyler Harris, who got a waiver to play this upcoming season.

Even if Rasir Bolton departs, Iowa State will still have some guard depth in 2021-22. But Coleman would have the largest ceiling of all of them if he joins and would have a potential starting spot. This program could be in a big need for scoring production over a year from now and along with four-star center Xavier Foster, would be building a quietly good young core to help get back into Big 12 contention.
