The Bottom Line for Dayton Basketball

I would imagine the starting lineup to start the season would look like Chatman, Crutcher, Watson, Johnson, and Tshimanga, based on continuity, age, and fit. Dwayne Cohill is poised to be a first guy off the bench type of guy, especially after his play down the stretch last season, but RJ Blankley has a unique opportunity as a freshman to step right in.

The team will need guys with size and length to fill in for the lack of forwards, and at 6’6” as a guard, he fits the bill.

The long and the short of the Dayton Flyers depth chart is that this is a team that will have to go small if they want to win. With the vast majority of their talent at the guard positions and a wide range of skillsets in that group, the Flyer guards can fill the 1-4 positions well enough to succeed at a high level.

That in tandem with of lack of depth and no clear answers with their bigs, the Flyers will play to their strengths and rely on Jalen Crutch and companies play to get them over the hump in 2020-2021.
