Potential for Haliburton in NBA

This has already been touched on through his physical attributes and ability on both sides of the ball but potential will be the deciding factor on how far Haliburton can rise at the NBA level. Currently, it is uncertain exactly what his ceiling is at the next level. Killian Hayes and Lamelo Ball are both younger than Haliburton and have both played at the international level this past year.

However, the growth that Haliburton has shown in his two years at Iowa State is exponentially higher than what Hayes and Ball have shown overseas. His size and length are extremely rare at the guard position and it aids in his ability to successfully pass, rebound, defend and score.

In three years he went from a virtually unknown Midwest prospect to a lottery pick at only twenty years old. If he can remain on his current development trajectory, improving year over year, he has proven his current foundation of skills will help elevate him to become a legitimate NBA guard.

The two best fits for Haliburton, at the moment, are the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons. In New York, he would have the ability to come into a young team and compete for the starting point guard spot immediately aiding in his overall development.

Providing an ample amount of NBA exposure quickly. Detroit is a different situation because he would have to sit behind veteran guard Derrick Rose. This may not necessarily be a bad thing as he would be able to gain valuable knowledge from an established veteran which is something New York does not currently offer.

Overall, any team that has the opportunity to select Tyrese Haliburton should take the chance, he could be the steal of the draft.
