Points guards

PG 1 – Braxton Beverly

Beverly, one of the lone seniors on the Wolfpack roster looks to be the lead floor general for NC State. The Hazard, Kentucky native averaged seven points, one assist, and one rebound off of 38% shooting. Beverley has the starting job right now because of great ball control. Beverly averaged less than one turnover a game last year and is one of the best shooters on State shooting the ball at a 37% clip from the three last year.

Beverly did have his worst season of his college career last year. Beverly averaged nine points a game his previous two years and his assist averages have decreased each year. And if we’re being honest here, Beverly is in real danger of losing his starting job this year if he doesn’t play better this year. Even if he does revert to a bench role this year, Beverly will see a lot of time cause of his outstanding shooting from three-point range.

PG 2 – Cam Hayes

Hayes is the highest-rated recruit from the Wolfpack’s 2019 class. Hayes was a four-star recruit, sixty-eighth best recruit in the nation, thirteenth best point guard, and number three total recruit in the state of North Carolina. Hayes averaged 10 points, three assists, and one steal a game.

Hayes is an old school point guard who is a pass-first guy and looks to get his teammates involved. He can shoot but Hayes is not going to put crazy scoring numbers. Look for Hayes to start by the end of the season if there’s not more production out of Braxton Beverley.

PG 3 – Shakeel Moore

Moore was the second-highest recruit in the Wolfpack’s 2019 class. Moore averaged 15 points at Piedmont Classical High school and averaged 16 points, three assists, and four rebounds at the Nike EYBL Summer Circuit. Moore could be a redshirt candidate this year. If he does play it will be behind Hayes if Coach Keatts decides to move Beverly to a shooting guard role.
