Big 12 Basketball: Ranking of top 15 players for 2020-21 season

The native from Arlington, Texas became a full-time starter with the departure of Jarrett Culver for the NBA last season.

Although a raw prospect after his freshman season, Edwards made significant strides, doubling his points per game and improving his shot selection.

The 6″4 guard improved in every area, especially at the free throw line. Edwards made 77% of his shots from the charity stripe last season. Although not a very good shooter from 3, he was forced to take more shots as a Sophomore, so that is an area for improvement.

Edward’s ability to create shots near the basket is what sets him apart from the rest of the team. Whether that’s in transition or making a move at the perimeter to get to the basket. At his height, Edwards is an above-average rebounder, that can on occasion, block shots that many couldn’t.

Edwards had a six-game stretch of scoring in double figures, four of those six contests shooting over 50% from the field. The Red Raiders only lost once during the stretch.

When Edwards is at his best, Texas Tech is firing on all cylinders. Chris Beard has done a fantastic job of getting high-end recruits to come to Tech over the past 3 years. Edwards was not a high-end recruit, but can be turned into one of the best players in the conference with a more refined 3 point shot and above-average defensive play.
