Ochai Agbaji. 6. player. 462. . .

Although it wasn’t a surprise to many, Agbaji decided to stay at Kansas for his Junior season. The Junior was expected to be a late first-round pick but chose to come back, after receiving Big 12 Honorable mention, the season prior.

As a freshman, Agbaji didn’t play many minutes to begin the season. As a matter of fact, he didn’t play at all during the Non-Conference slate and took till halfway through conference play, where Agbaji got a chance to shine. His 24 points on 8-10 shooting against Texas is what got the ball rolling for him.

Ochai would insert himself into the lineup from that point and added two more 20 point efforts against Oklahoma State and at TCU in back to back contests.

Baylor isn’t the only team with excellent on-ball defenders, as Garrett and Agbaji can definitely hold their own on that end. At 6’5 210, Agbaji has near-perfect height to transition to the next level, alongside his defense.

Agbaji’s long wingspan gets into passing lanes, and Agbaji can finish at the rim at an extremely high rate. One of the issues for the junior is his consistent shooting.

Although, he is capable of making shots from deep, consistency is the issue. Agbaji shoots just 32% from 3 and disappeared at times when needed in big games for the Jayhawks. Agbaji shot just 2-12 against Baylor, 2-9 against Dayton, and 5-13 in one of their matchups with Texas Tech.

Agbaji’s consistency needs to go up, with Udoka gone and Kansas needing a reliable scorer on the perimeter. The defense is there for the Jayhawks, but for Kansas to match their success last season, they need Agbaji to be slightly better on the scoring end in 2020-2021.
