Michigan Wolverines

Head coach Juwan Howard has done a great job with the 2021 recruiting class already, currently ranked at No. 6 overall. The featured players are all perimeter players, including top-100 guards Kobe Bufkin and Frankie Collins, as well as four-star small forward Isaiah Barnes. Three-star stretch forward Will Tschetter is also part of the class but projects as a four-year developmental project.

With top-30 freshman center Hunter Dickinson also part of the team for at least a year or two, the Wolverines are hoping to land a star power forward to round out the roster. Houstan wouldn’t be the first five-star commit for Coach Howard (Isaiah Todd) but would prefer to not lose this one to the NBA G League at the last minute.

Houstan is one of two remaining frontcourt targets for the program in the 2021 class. The other is Efton Reid, a five-star center recruit who hasn’t provided an initial list of contenders. The Wolverines are rumored to be a legit threat to land him, but at this pace, would be after Houstan’s potential decision. Like Alabama with Davison, it would be a great benefit to land another star prospect to be even more appealing for Houstan.

Outside of four-star freshman Donovan Williams having a big upcoming season, the power forward position would be Houstan’s for the taking if he picked Michigan. Playing for a top-tier team in the Big Ten is also a great selling point, but they’ll have to overcome the mighty Duke and a surging Alabama in this process.
