NCAA Basketball: Duke, Michigan and OSU among finalists for Charles Bediako
Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines have just one true center on the roster in top-35 freshman big man Hunter Dickinson, so it makes perfect sense why they’re looking to round out its class with a frontcourt star. They already have a top-10 overall 2021 class, led a trio of four-star perimeter commits.
Coach Juwan Howard has only been with Michigan for one season but he did a good job with senior Jon Teske, who had his best offensive campaign last year. If things work well with Dickinson, who has more raw talent, he may end up being a “one and done” prospect for the program.
Michigan has been after other star big men in the class as well. Besides Kepnang, the team also has been after Efton Reid, another five-star center prospect. Between the two, the Wolverines may have a better shot at landing Reid, which may impact how they go after Bediako.
With Howard’s NBA experience and ability to develop big men, this is a good option for the five-star center to consider. It’s a natural fit with how the system works, relying on the big to be a defensive anchor and supply double-digit offense as well.
But if Dickinson doesn’t leave, can he and Bediako play alongside one another on the court? That question may have to be answered first in order for the Wolverines to have a true shot.
