Texas Longhorns

Between five-star power freshman forward Greg Brown and senior big Jericho Sims, the Longhorns are very likely to lose their starting frontcourt after next season. The bench, while filled with former top-100 recruits, have struggled to be part of the rotation and likely won’t be playing much again in 2020-21.

That leaves a great opportunity for Bediako to come in and start as a freshman. He certainly wouldn’t be the first in the Shaka Smart era at Texas. He could be following the likes of Jarrett Allen, Jaxson Hayes, and Mo Bamba, who each were “one and dones” after solid campaigns. It did have more to do with their measurables and strengths as a defensive anchor inside, which is something that Bediako can also do.

But while they did make Bediako’s final five, he’s not Texas priority at the moment. That would be Daimion Collins, a five-star center from the state of Texas that also is down to five. All signs point to this being a Texas vs Oklahoma recruiting battle, with 50/50 odds at the moment.

If Collins decides early to pick the Longhorns, then Charles Bediako will likely have just four teams to choose from. It’s fine to have other options, but for the teams prioritizing this prospect such as Alabama and Duke, they may have a leg up in the recruitment. A decision may come later in the Fall or wait until 2021 but one of these five will end up with a five-star big man to work with.

Time will tell who that team is.
