The Ducks entered the offseason with some uncertainty looking to transition away from Payton Pritchard, their star of the last several seasons. Pritchard single-handedly provided a ton of spark and game-winning results last season for Oregon, but Coach Altman not only needs a star but a reliable scoring threat down the stretch.

Freshman N’Faly Dante was supposed to provide a huge presence for the program, but transcript issues caused him to miss the majority of the season. Dante’s on-court production was still solid however and he can expect to gain more traction with his results in a more wide-open offensive attack.

Yet, Coach Altman sought out additional options this offseason that can immediately come in and produce for the Ducks. Rutgers transfer Eugene Omoruyi made the move to Eugene prior to last season and is now eligible to join the rotation.

Omoruyi has improved in each of his three college seasons with the Scarlet Knights and seems ready to contribute at a high level yet again. He’s a player that can replicate a lot of the success Shakur Juiston showed with the program last season, as a physical player in the paint and battling on the boards.

Redshirt freshman Lok Wur did not see the floor last season and will hope to have developed enough during the offseason to acquire a significant number of minutes. His offensive game is fairly versatile, but Wur’s road to the court is an uphill climb behind experienced players and a guard-heavy attack still.

Sophomore Chandler Lawson had a small impact with the team in 2019, but he got a first-hand look at what playing at the Power 5 level is like. Lawson should look to secure either the 2nd or 3rd spot in the rotation behind Dante this year.

Depending on how many true guards received waivers and make Altman’s rotation, the path to finding more minutes may be difficult for Lawson and Wur. Transfer Eric Williams Jr. (Duquesne) and LJ Figueroa (St. John’s) have the height, physicality, and experience to put up a ton of points, while also have the versatility of guarding multiple positions defensively.

Both expect to command a large portion of the minutes regardless of which position they see. However, the Ducks overall frontcourt prospects look strong still behind Dante and Omoruyi at the least.
