NBA Draft 2020: Mock second round selections with a month to go
By Nick Andre
One of the most known players in the Big 10 was Cassius Winston of Michigan State. The thing that impresses me about Winston is that he is a true leader for his team. His mentality is to get the job done and he puts his teammates in the right position for success.
Winston’s game and mentality would fit well with the Sixers. He provides great perimeter scoring and can is also an excellent perimeter defender on the opposing team’s point guard. Looking into the future of Philadelphia, Winston could become a vocal leader on and of the floor as he gains experience in the NBA.
Nothing wrong with Toronto grabbing another prospect in the backcourt. Karim Mane and the Toronto Raptors are almost like the perfect marriage. Mane shows a lot of toughness at his position and that is what Toronto is all about.
Mane’s strong suit is attacking the defense. He loves to penetrate and put pressure on defenders by drawing fouls. As he gains more exposure in the NBA, he could be a great backcourt mate alongside Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Norman Powell, and Terrance Davis. People may not expect it, but Karim Mane could be a huge piece in Toronto’s future of another championship.
Childs is another big man that can complement Zion Williamson in the frontcourt. He is very lengthy on the floor and shows much athleticism with his talent. If Childs were to be the franchise’s center, he would become a huge contribution with his floor spacing and physicality under the rim.
In conclusion, there are many players in the second round that can make a huge difference for an NBA franchise as far as success. They tend to be overlooked due to the fact that they are not lottery picks.
Each player in this draft has worked hard in their respective units to become the best version of themself on the basketball floor. Once they make the transition to the NBA, their work ethic and impact will be felt around their organization.
