Dixie State’s Schedule Outlook

The Trailblazers’ first Non-Conference schedule consists of seven D-I programs. No rest for the weary as the Trailblazer’s first game is a road trip to Eugene. The Pac-12 champion, Oregon Ducks will be welcoming Dixie State to begin their season on November, 28th. The Trailblazers then have four straight contests against D-I programs, notably a trip to Logan to face Utah State.

Dixie State gets its toughest game in program history on December 29th as the Trailblazers travel to Spokane to play perennial powerhouse, Gonzaga. Sandwiched between that game are two D-II contests with SAGU American Indian College and California Miramar visiting St. George.

The last non-conference contest is also Senior Night as Park University comes to play on March 2nd. A rarity that the final game of a basketball schedule is a Non-Conference game, but the Trailblazers are ready for the challenge.

The WAC is doing a round-robin doubleheader schedule format in 2020-2021, with the teams playing every Friday and Saturday, back to back days. It’s an uphill battle for Dixie State as their first contests are a set of home games with New Mexico State.

New Mexico State was the runaway WAC champion, as they finished a perfect 16-0 in conference play. Also landing two players on the All-WAC First Team last season, New Mexico State looks like the biggest target in the conference once again.

There are two new programs added to WAC as the other is Tarleton State, out of Stephenville, Texas. The last home conference set for Dixie State is against the Texans. Dixie State will host them on February 19th and 20th.

The last set of games comes just the next weekend as they travel to Chicago to play Chicago State. The Cougars finished last year on the opposite end of the spectrum of New Mexico State, with an 0-16 record during the regular season.
