12. Ahmad Nivins – Saint Joseph’s Hawks
Ahmad Nivins becomes the third Hawk to join this list. Nivins is the school’s career field goal percentage leader with 63.4%. Nivins is also fifth on the team’s all-time list with 110 blocks.
As a senior, Nivins averaged a double-double with 19.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. He ranked nationally fourth in rebounds behind John Bryant, Blake Griffin, and Kenneth Faried. Nivins received several honors following that season including, 2009 Atlantic-10 Player of the Year, Big 5 Player of the Year, AP Honorable Mention All-American, First Team All-Atlantic 10, and Robert V. Geasey Trophy winner. Nivins became the third Hawk in six years to win the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year award.
Nivins was selected 56th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. The forward chose to play professionally overseas despite getting drafted in the second round. Nivins signed with Belgian team Dexia Mons-Hainaut and his draft rights were traded to the New York Knicks. Nivins played eight seasons overseas with teams in Spain, Belgium, and France. Nivins was named a French Pro A All-Star in 2012.
In 2018, Nivins was named to the Saint Joseph’s University Basketball Hall of Fame.
