17. Brian Roberts – Dayton Flyers

Brian Roberts received at least one Atlantic 10 Conference honor every season he played for the Dayton Flyers. Roberts averaged 15.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in his four seasons in Dayton not to mention he also played a total of 125 games.

Roberts’ collegiate career took off and led him to receive offers from professional teams overseas and even get opportunities with NBA teams such as New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets, and Portland Trailblazers.

Roberts earned several honors while at Dayton including Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team honors, All-Atlantic 10 second-team honors (twice), and Atlantic 10 All-Academic team honors.

Roberts had an outstanding senior season averaging 18.4 points and 3.4 assists per game. Following his senior season, Roberts was named to the All-Atlantic 10 first team and was named as one of 30 nominees for the John R. Wooden Award, one of 30 nominees for the Naismith Award, and one of 16 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award.

After failing to get drafted in the 2008 NBA Draft, Roberts did participate in the NBA summer league. Roberts would later sign to play professionally overseas, however, he would get his calling to play in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets in 2012. The Hornets then changed their name to the Pelicans the following year. Roberts would go on to lead the NBA in free-throw percentage (.940) during the 2013-14 season.
