Key Reserves

Greg Gantt

Sophomore forward, Greg Gantt (2.6 ppg, 2,3 rpg), who was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, will be back this season for Providence. During his first season, Gantt started five games and averaged 12.5 minutes per game. He didn’t have a strong freshman season, but I expect to see his minutes increase this season, as he should be able to make a greater impact.

Brycen Goodine

In the offseason, Cooley picked up sophomore guard Brycen Goodine (1.9 ppg) out of Syracuse. He was granted a waiver and is eligible this season. Goodine was a four-star recruit out of high school, but he was buried on Syracuse’s depth chart and averaged only 8.7 minutes per game last season. I project Goodine to get multiple opportunities this season to prove himself and should be able to see more time on the court for the Friars.

Jimmy Nichols Jr.

Junior forward Jimmy Nichols Jr (2.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg) will be back after missing the majority of last season due to injury. During his two seasons at Providence, Nichols started 19 of the 35 total games he has played in. He averaged slightly over 11 minutes per game last season and will look to improve off the bench.

Alyn Breed

Alyn Breed is one of only two freshmen on the roster this season for Providence. He is a three-star guard that played last season at IMG Academy in Florida. He averaged 16 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game, while converting on 60 percent of his shots at IMG. Breed’s progression throughout his career will be beneficial towards the future of the Friars.

Jyare Davis

Jyare Davis is the second freshman that will be on this season’s roster for Providence. He is a three-star forward that played on his high school varsity basketball team for five seasons. Davis averaged 17 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game last season for the Sanford School in Delaware. While in high school, Davis made history by being the first-ever high school basketball player in Delaware to be selected to the First-Team All-State in Delaware for four straight seasons.
