Indiana Basketball: 2020-21 season preview for the Hoosiers
By Adam Childs
Season Outlook for Indiana Basketball
Indiana was on its way to breaking its NCAA tournament drought last year COVID stole the tournament. Hoosiers fans shouldn’t worry, though, because this team should be able to get them back.
Jackson-Davis is very good down low and the guards should be better. If the Hoosiers can get better shooting they are going to be very tough to stop.
They proved last year that they could be the top teams in the Big Ten even without great shooting. Hoosiers fans are dreaming about what they can do with the new freshman and the possible deep threats that come with them.
They did lose Devonte Green who was easily their hottest player at times to graduation and Justin Smith to transfer which will hurt. But they are replacing them with a great recruiting class and what seems to be high-quality guys.
This seems to be a close-knit group of guys and that should only lead to good things this year and Hoosier fans have every right to be excited. They don’t quite have enough talent to win the Big Ten, but they can beat any team on any given night.
A realistic ceiling for the Hoosiers this year is a top-five finish, but with as loaded as the Big Ten is, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they finished 10th again. This team has a year older Jackson-Davis and a better group of freshmen so I would lean towards a top-five finish.
The way 2020 has gone and how they are trying to play season, nothing would surprise me. But the Hoosiers have a very good young team that could make some noise in the Big Ten. Hoosier fans should be excited as the Hoosiers will be dancing at the end of the year.
