NCAA Basketball: Predicting landing spot for remaining 2021 5-star recruits
By Ian Mumm
#25 Bryce McGowens, SG
It was a bit surprising to see McGowens re-open his commitment after pledging to the Florida State Seminoles. His decision came after the Noles received commitments from top-25 guards Matthew Cleveland and Jalen Warley. After receiving significant national interest on the second go-round, McGowens is believed to have settled on a final two of Georgia and Nebraska.
The Bulldogs have seemingly gained momentum with several top prospects in recent weeks but have yet to receive official notices from any of those options.
Instead, McGowens may have significant reason to look at his second option with more focused eyes. The Cornhuskers are in major rebuilding mode, but the roster continues to make small progress every offseason towards their goals of competing in the Big Ten. One such improvement was gaining the transfer of Bryce’s brother Trey McGowens from Pittsburgh.
The chance to receive significant minutes and on-court opportunities, in addition to a chance to play with his brother, will likely be too big to pass up. Bryce should make it official that the Huskers will be his new home.
Prediction: Nebraska Cornhuskers
