Season Outlook

Picked to finish fourth in the Big East the ceiling is really high for this Huskies team. The fan base is rallying around the program and there’s a real buzz moving forward. A strong 2021 recruiting class was just made official this past week, a class they probably wouldn’t have secured without the conference switch.

UConn fans probably see this team as tournament or bust so I’ll take it a step forward, I think UConn needs a tournament win to deem this a successful season. Some slack should be given, this season is going to be nothing but typical, cancellations, postponements, delays.

Big East play is going to be a different animal but this is a different team. Villanova and Creighton are seen as the undisputed two best teams in the conference to start the season and I think UConn rightfully falls into the second tier.

UConn’s season will rely on the Huskies gelling quickly. James Bouknight has All-American potential but he won’t be able to do it alone. Guys like Cole, Jackson, and Martin will have to pull their weight on offense. Defensively UConn has one of if not the best shot-blocking teams in the country. Getting out in transition off those blocked shots will lead to easy baskets out on the break.

One thing you can guarantee is that this group is going to play with heart. The sky is the limit, welcome back Husky fans, this is a tournament team with a load of talent.
