. Guard/wing. Portland Trail Blazers. Saddiq Bey. 16. player. 34

Bey is the type of wing that NBA scouts love. 6’8 and the ability to shoot over 45% from deep at Villanova, teams will love to add his spacing and high IQ on their rosters. He’s not the greatest athlete though, which certainly limits his pre-draft rankings.

"Bey is already a three and D guy that will continue to get better. He can make an impact right away for Portland. – Will Cash"

As great a story that Carmelo Anthony was for Portland this past season, he’s obviously not the long-term answer. The Trailblazers could have Bey in as his eventual replacement at the wing position and would be a great shooter on the wings for star guards CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard.

38. . Point guard. Orlando Magic. Cole Anthony. 15. player

At the start of last season, Anthony was viewed as a projected top-3 pick for this draft. Yet despite putting up good numbers at North Carolina (18.5 ppg and 4.0 apg), the team was simply awful and some of his negatives (average athleticism and inability to make his teammates better as the lead guard) were exposed. His scoring ability will have him in the NBA for a long time but his success will depend on where he lands.

"An electrifying bucket-getter like Anthony would be a great help to a Magic team that does not really have one of those. – Karl Heiser"

Orlando would be a good potential spot because rather than be asked to lead the offense, Anthony could partner up with Markelle Fultz in the backcourt. That would give the Magic the kind of offensive potential they simply haven’t had in years, while forward Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon can provide the needed balance in the frontcourt.

18. . Guard. Boston Celtics. Tyrell Terry. 14. player

Terry had a breakout year at Stanford, coming from nowhere to average 14.6 ppg and 3.2 apg, while making 41% of his three-point attempts. He’s a smart playmaker that can play both guard positions and even if not a starter, can still be a valuable 6th and 7th man off the bench with consistent production.

"Passing on the likes of Kira Lewis Jr. and Devin Vassell would be certainly tough, but neither has the combined ceiling as a ball-handler and shooter that Terry has. – Cody Larson"

While Boston arguably needs a big man more, there aren’t many they can reasonably take at No. 14. However, assuming that pending free agent guard Brad Wanamaker moves on, the Celtics will need a solid backup ball-handler behind Kemba Walker. There may be guards with higher ceilings still available but Terry would be the safer option the team can rely on.

69. . Guard. New Orleans Pelicans. Theo Maledon. 13. player

A 6’3 combo guard out of France, Maledon has a high ceiling due to his fundamentally sound game. He can facilitate, shoot, and defend at a good enough level to make it in the NBA, although his star potential is unknown. He’s still 19 years old, making him a long-term project that will hopefully pay off in 2-3 years.

"Maledon shows many ways of scoring and getting to the basket. His play almost reminds me of Wlll Barton of the Denver Nuggets as he brings a lot of energy to his team. – Nick Dormus"

The Pelicans may hold onto Jrue Holiday or trade him for future assets. If he stays, the team can have Maledon slowly develop, either off the bench or spend some time in the G League. He’ll compete with second-year guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker for minutes if this is the selection but for a franchise that’ll take time to be a contender, they can wait on Maledon to develop.
