NCAA Basketball: WVU, Indiana and Kentucky among Isaac McKneely top 8
Purdue Boilermakers
With Eric Hunter Jr. gone by the time McKneely would potentially arrive, the Boilermakers could definitely use his instant impact offense. It’ll be interesting to see what freshman guards Ethan Morton and Jaden Ivey do, which will go a long way in seeing how aggressively the program targets in the next two classes. This team represents a major opportunity for this prospect in particular to have a major early role.
West Virginia Mountaineers
There are two major selling points for McKneely to join the Mountaineers. First and most importantly, they’re the “hometown” option for the top in-state player for the 2022 class. It also helps that with the exception of Miles McBride, the rest of the roster are all upperclassmen and will be gone by the time he arrives.
Even though West Virginia has a pair of 2021 guards commits (Seth Wilson and Kobe Johnson), McKneely is the top target for the program to land a year from now. And based on the offense from the team this past season, they could use his shooting right away.
Virginia Cavaliers
McKneely’s offensive capabilities would be a big boost for the Cavaliers perimeter offense, which took a big dip from last season compared to when Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome were leading the team.
At the same time, Virginia still has plenty of young guards that’ll be around for a while, including Casey Morsell, Reece Beekman, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, and top-50 class of 2021 commit Taine Murray. KcKneely would have to come off the bench if he picked Virginia, but could develop into a solid role for them in the future.
While the big names such as Kentucky and North Carolina headlines this list, the best options on paper for Isaac KcKneely looks to be West Virginia, Purdue, and Illinois. The pressure will be on for the Mountaineers to keep him in-state, while the other programs in the mid-west will also be in the picture during this process.
