4. Nico Mannion, G, Arizona

DOB:

  • March 14, 2001 (19)

SIZE:

  • 6’3″, 190 lbs

PROS:

  • Gifted playmaker
  • Still very young
  • High basketball IQ
  • Scores well off the dribble

CONS:

  • Poor shooter
  • Not a great athlete
  • Struggles defending good athletes

DRAFT GRADE:

  • Mid-to-late 1st Round

Much like the aforementioned Josh Green, Nico Mannion is a guard out of Arizona who decided to go pro after one season with the Wildcats. Mannion is an incredible playmaker who has a natural feel for the game, often making the right decision on whether to attack the rim or dish the ball off. On top of that, he is still only 19, so there is plenty of room to grow.

The knocks on Mannion come on both ends of the court. Offensively Mannion is not a good shooter, which could hinder his offensive potential. On the defensive end, Mannion struggles when forced to guard above-average athletes, which could make him a liability early in his career. With all that being said, Mannion has the potential to be a very good player in the NBA due to his intelligence and unselfishness. I see him going anywhere from 13-23.

3. Isaiah Stewart II, C, Washington

DOB:

  • May 22, 2001 (19)

SIZE:

  • 6’9″, 240 lbs

PROS:

  • Rim protector potential
  • Solid inside scorer
  • Incredible screen setter
  • Solid athlete
  • Lots of room to grow

CONS:

  • Not a good shooter
  • Struggles defending on the perimeter
  • Forces shots offensively at times

DRAFT GRADE:

  • Mid-to-late 1st Round

I’m way higher on Isaiah Stewart II than most people, and I think it’s because I see a very high floor for him and he’s still just 19 years old. On the offensive end, Stewart II is a good inside scorer who sets incredible screens for his teammates, allowing for an easier flowing offense. Defensively Stewart II is a good athlete who contests shots very well, which is a skill that should translate to the next level.

The major negative people like to knock Stewart II on is his inability to stretch the floor. Stewart II is not a good shooter and really needs to work on becoming a more versatile scorer, or else he could be limited offensively. However, at the end of the day, I do believe Stewart II will be a solid defensive player in this draft for years to come and can see him picked anywhere from 15-25.
