Expectations for Clemson

Clemson finished .500 last year and 9th in the conference in a relatively down year for the ACC. The Tigers lost some questionable games last year but were hampered with injuries. They beat some of the top teams in the conference last year like Florida State and Louisville. But would then follow it up to losing to teams towards the bottom of the ACC like Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.

The good news for Brad Brownell is most of the rotation comes back from last year’s team. But, Clemson has to improve on their efficiency in general as the Tigers shot 42% from the field as a team and only 31% from three. We are also going to have to see improvement from players John Newman and Al-Amir Dawes if Clemson wants to make real noise in the ACC.

This team has the talent and potential to be one of the best in the ACC and be an NCAA Tournament team. Personally, though, I don’t think that’s going to happen. Clemson has loads of talent, but Brad Brownell teams have a track record of being inconsistent and losing games they should not lose.

I think this team finishes 8th to 10th in ACC play and barely misses the NCAA Tournament.
