LSU Basketball: 2020-21 season preview for the Tigers
By Ben Dickson
Overall outlook and expectations for LSU
Regardless of if and when the NCAA comes down on the LSU program, there should be high expectations in Baton Rouge this season. The Tigers are sitting at 26th right outside of the AP Poll, rank 37th preseason in KenPom, and were picked 3rd in the SEC.
While there were significant losses endured by this program over the offseason, there should be enough talent there to compete for an SEC title. Even though LSU is not coming into the season with the lofty rankings of Kentucky and Tennessee, I think that they may have the most talented roster in the entire conference. With two five-stars and six four-star recruits on the roster as a whole, there will be no lack of talent nor depth for Will Wade.
The way LSU’s schedule pans out could result in a great record. As long as they are permitted, the Tigers will be an NCAA Tournament team. The key to LSU’s season, just like any other team in 2020, will be to stay healthy. As long as the Tigers are healthy and can play enough games they will be well on their way to a great season.
Even though an SEC title may not be the expectations for the Tigers, I can definitely see it in the cards. It will be tough to dethrone Kentucky and Tennessee, but anything is possible in what should be a college basketball season full of parity. A top-3 SEC finish and a win or two in the NCAA Tournament will be a successful season for LSU Basketball.
