Northwestern – SO Boo Buie

Boo Buie, while possibly having the most fun name in college basketball, has all the tools to be a great scoring guard in the Big Ten.

Northwestern has had some good scoring guards in the past like John Shurna, Vic Law, and Bryant McIntosh, but Buie could be better than both of them. He’s got a killer knack for scoring the basketball, as evidenced by his best stretch of the season in the middle of December, exploding for 26 points with five three-pointers against Michigan State, then following that up with a 25 point outing against DePaul in which he had four three-pointers.

There’s no doubt Buie can shoot the ball, but he’s also a solid passer. He had a career-high 7 assists against Nebraska, along with 15 points in that game. Buie in his sophomore year will most likely be the starting point guard, and could also be Northwestern’s best player.

The Wildcats have been a team that has also been in the basement of the Big Ten recently, but if anyone can get them out of there, it’s Chris Collins and Boo Buie. Expect a breakout season from Buie and an improved record from the Wildcats.
