Maryland – JR Aaron Wiggins

Aaron Wiggins is one of the most important players on Mark Turgeon’s Terrapins.

Last season, the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year averaged 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game to help Maryland win a share of the conference title. Wiggins was an electric forward who provided a spark off the Terps’ bench. Wiggins was a good shooter who could knock down open 3s and a great athlete who would throw down an electrifying dunk to get the fans out of their seats.

His 3P% dropped off from his freshman to sophomore year, but that was due to an increase in usage, which happens often. It shows how highly Turgeon thinks of him, allowing him to handle the ball more often and take more shots.

The junior is expected to have a much larger role in the offense next season, due to the departure of senior guard Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith. He was Maryland’s 3rd leading scorer last season, behind the aforementioned duo, and he could end up being their leading scorer as he takes on a larger role. Expect Aaron Wiggins to break out and be one of the best players in the conference next season.
