Depth Looks Promising

Starting with Senior Trevor Anderson, who also makes up the leadership within the roster, he added nine points in Friday’s contest. Anderson was an efficient 3/4 from the field with a three-pointer.

He can be a player who impacts in a similar way recent Badger Zak Showalter did, as a player who is willing to do whatever to win, and also has that experience in big games.

Sophomore Tyler Wahl adds size and a presence on both the offensive and defensive evens to the team. Wahl averaged just 2.6 points last season but can expect more minutes and substance in those stats with a year of experience. Wahl blocked two shots in Friday night’s game and has scored 14 points through the first two games.

Getting deeper into the 2020 Badger roster, we find two freshmen in Ben Carlson and Jonathan Davis. Carlson has scored 16 points through the first couple of contests, showcasing his ability to score and add some size to the frontcourt.

Davis scored 8 in the first game against Eastern Illinois and 9 Friday night against Arkansas-Pine Buff. He is a hybrid between and forward and guard, has good handles, scores, and can rebound as he nearly had a double-double in that game Friday evening.

It’s tough this early in the season to tell who will make a bigger impact and round out the bench minutes for the Badgers, but a lot of players showcasing glimpses of potential early on in the season can only be good news for Badgers Head Coach Greg Gard.
