#20 Kentucky vs #7 Kansas in Indianapolis – 8:30 pm ET Tuesday

Both squads are challenging themselves in the non-conference and both have split a pair of games against two really good teams in Gonzaga and Richmond.

Kansas’s loss to the Zags is more impressive, but also, any time you score 90 points against the No.1 team in the country you know you’ve got a good team. Bill Self knows, and the Jayhawks proved they can score with the best of them after putting up 94 against St. Joseph’s in its following game.

Kentucky, on the other hand, looked lackluster in a loss to Richmond, something that happens a lot early in the season for a John Calipari team given the youth he plays. Adding Olivier Sarr (12.5 Pts, 7.0 Reb, 0.5 Ast) into the mix adds intrigue, but he has yet to prove in his college career that he can help a team consistently win, and that is something that the young Wildcats desperately need despite the obvious star power potential of BJ Boston and Terrence Clarke.

Kansas has a great mix of veterans and underclassmen and under the leadership of Marcus Garrett (13.5 Pts, 4.5 Reb, 2.5 Ast), looks set up for success in an early matchup with a Kentucky team who is finding its way.

The Cats could very easily be better than the Jayhawks by the end of the season, but I think you’re safe taking Kansas (-3.5) in this one.
