11. DePaul Blue Demons (0-0)

  • First Game: Sunday 12/6 at 6 pm ET at Iowa State

DePaul is the only team in the conference that has yet to play a game, so I put them at the bottom of the rankings to start.

During the last four seasons, DePaul has finished last in the Big East Conference. The Blue Demons this season have the opportunity to dig themselves out of a finish again at the very bottom.

DePaul had to pause team activities due to a positive COVID-19 test and has yet to play this season. The Blue Demons had their first three games cancelled versus Western Illinois, Chicago State, and Alcorn State.

Even though they have yet to play a game this season, there was some positive news for the Blue Demons to start the season. Junior guard, Javon Freeman-Liberty (19 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 3.2 apg in 2019-20), who was a two-year starter at Valparaiso and was named to the 2019-20 All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team for the Missouri Valley Conference, was granted a waiver to be immediately eligible this season for DePaul.

Freeman-Liberty’s eligibility will be a boost to DePaul’s offensive production as well as the team’s defense, as he is expected to start right away. He averaged 2.2 steals per game last season and finished 15th nationally in 2019-20 in steals per game.

DePaul will play their first game today at Iowa State, before starting Big East Conference play on Friday, December 11 at Seton Hall.
