8. Butler Bulldogs (1-0)

  • Wins: vs Western Michigan (66-62)
  • Next Game: Monday 12/14 at 5 pm ET vs St. John’s

Butler tipped off their season on Wednesday, November 25 with a tight victory over the Western Michigan Broncos 66-62. Senior guard, Aaron Thompson scored 21 points and had four assists, while senior guard Jair Bolden scored 15 points and snagged nine rebounds in his Bulldogs debut.

With a small sample size of just one game, its quite concerning for Butler that they only won by four points against Western Michigan, which is a mid-major program from the Mid-American Conference. Butler also lost the rebounding battle, 34-32 in favor of Western Michigan. Last season, Western Michigan finished 10th in the MAC averaging 34.4 rebounds per game.

Following its game against Western Michigan, Butler had to pause team activities due to COVID-19, which has led to the cancellation of games against Eastern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, and Kansas State.

Butler is expected to return from quarantine this Wednesday with its next game currently scheduled for Monday, December 14 at home versus St. John’s.
