If Aaron Wiggins is going to have a breakout game, Why not Clemson?

Wiggins isn’t having a rough go as of late. He has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. He has been finding his rhythm more in the second half as opposed to the first. Against St. Peter’s Friday, he didn’t score from the field but still had six assists, five points, and four rebounds. Against the Tigers, the shots need to fall in bunches.

When Wiggins is rolling, the Terps offense has more juice. He was the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year for a reason. Getting in a rhythm against Clemson now and carrying that momentum into Big Ten play. That momentum will be needed against teams such as Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Michigan State.

The good thing is that he has shown that scoring isn’t the only way he contributes. Scoring is important but if you can dish out assists to teammates or secure rebounds to either gain extra possessions on offense or do so to push the fastbreak, those are great ways to make a difference on the floor.

The Terps have to get him going with drives to the basket and when he’s open on the perimeter, give him the ball. He will gain the confidence to keep shooting when the opportunities present themselves. The ball needs to go to him in open spots. He is still dangerous from out there when the shots go in. Look for a solid performance out of the sophomore from New Jersey.
