Winner – San Diego State Aztecs

The week started out rough for the Aztecs, with WCC team Pepperdine having a lead at halftime. That would’ve been an upset but San Diego State came back to get the win and saved their unbeaten record. They didn’t take things to chance on Thursday against Arizona State, taking a big lead and never letting up to get another win over a Pac-12 opponent.

With wins over both the Sun Devils and UCLA, the Aztecs already got a pair of great resume-builders to solidify their at-large spot regardless of how strong the Mountain West is from top to bottom. With games against both BYU and Saint Mary’s, this team can be a top-4 seed come March.

Loser – Wichita State Shockers

The AAC has had some issues, with the Shockers being one of them so far. They lost this week at home to both Missouri and Oklahoma State, both of them being by close margins. It’s not that either of those games is considered “bad” at all but unfortunately for them, this was also the last chance for them to get big non-conference wins before the start of AAC play.

Remember, Wichita State had to start its season late due to their own covid-related issues. Considering everything that has happened with the program in the past month off the court as well, making the NCAA Tournament is probably the least likely scenario right now.
