It has been a grand total of five games but there is also one team who is going to be justified if they do decide to fire their coach and that is the Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State is bad and doesn’t look to be much better. Kansas State made the elite eight three seasons ago and have been trying to find that magic that led to the run.

Head coach Bruce Weber has had a heck of a time recruiting or keeping the talent that he has found on campus in Manhattan. The Wildcats were already slated to be one of the worst power conference teams in the country, it is hard to say if anyone knew exactly how bad they would be. The Wildcats are a dreadful offensive team and are not great on defense either. This year has not gone as they hoped, and they are likely going to get single-digit wins.

So far this season Kansas State has lost to Drake, who is likely going to be a middle-of-the-pack Valley team. The Wildcats also lost to Colorado by 18, and beat UMKC by 4 points, and lost to previously winless UNLV by 10. The straw that broke the camel’s back and just showed that Weber is no longer working and likely no longer in the good graces of the Wildcats was the 13-point loss to Fort Hays State.

Fort Hays State is not a good team within Division II they were 0-3 at the time of the game against Kansas State. Fort Hays State is not going to be able to count that win on their ledger as it was an exhibition for them, but it counts for the Wildcats, and the loss stings as it was a game that Kansas State should have won. Weber has run his course in Manhattan and much like his tenure at Illinois it looks headed for an unceremonious end.
