It was supposed to be an easy three games this week for the Red Raiders but they had to fight it out with Abilene Christian of the Southland Conference, trailing in the second half. They were able to win with a low final score of 51-44, showing that they still have work to do before entering the top-tier of the Big 12.

They had a much easier time this weekend, beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by 20 points. Terrence Shannon led all players with 15 points and seven rebounds, making up for an off shooting night from Mac McClung.

Finally on the court this past week, Tennessee got a pair of wins over Cincinnati and Colorado. Both were led by their defense and depth, with five-star freshmen guards (Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson) coming off the bench. Senior forward John Fulkerson is leading the way so far, averaging 13.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg.

The Scarlet Knights are still unbeaten with Geo Baker, thanks to Ron Harper Jr. playing like the second-best player in the Big Ten. He had a game-high 26 points to lead the team to a win over Syracuse in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, while guards Jacob Young and Montez Mathis combined to produce 37 points and 13 assists.

Baker has been practicing of late and although he’ll probably miss the Maryland matchup on Monday, he should be good to good for next week’s clash against Illinois.
