10. Creighton Bluejays (4-1)

Last rank: 8

An early contender for game of the season, Creighton and Kansas went back and forth all the way down to the final possession of the game. The Bluejays weren’t able to pull off the upset, despite Denzel Mahoney coming up huge in the second half. He was able to maintain he great play of late in the 98-74 win over Nebraska, scoring 20 points. Marcus Zegarowski went for a game-high 22 in that contest.

The Bluejays now look ahead towards the start of Big East play, with matchups against Marquette and St. John’s up first.

Illinois had its week start off on a major high, beating the Duke Blue Devils by 15 points on the road. That was a program-defining victory and validated them being national title contenders. Unfortunately for them, they weren’t able to defeat their rivals Missouri, losing to them by three points despite Ayo Dosunmu going off for 36 points. Kofi Cockburn and Andrew Curbelo combined for 33 points but the rest of the roster contributed only nine.

The Illini will look to rebound this upcoming week against Minnesota, before taking on Rutgers in a highly-anticipated Big Ten matchup.

Even in a loss, the Longhorns looked very good against Villanova last Sunday, finally silencing preseason doubters that they are in fact for real this season. They played only one other game this past week, beating Texas State by 21 points.

What was important to note about that game was that it was the breakout performance for five-star freshman forward Greg Brown, who went for a game-high 18 points on 7/14 shooting from the field. He and the team look to keep the momentum going with a matchup this week against Sam Houston State.
