NCAA Basketball: Missouri, San Diego State rise in latest power rankings
It’s now the Jalen Wilson show at Kansas Basketball. The redshirt freshman’s breakout season continued with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds in the team’s big win over Creighton in this week’s top-10 battle. It also was the first sign of life for big man David McCormack, setting the pace for the Jayhawks in the first half.
The team won their other matchup last week, beating Omaha by a final score of 95-50. Senior Mitch Lightfoot had 14 points off the bench, while Tyon Grant-Foster had 13 points. These are players Kansas will need to contribute more as Big 12 play approaches.
The Cougars were put on pause this past week due to covid issues so there weren’t games to judge them on. Their next matchup will be at Alabama this Saturday which will be a nice contrast between talented offensive and defensive units.
After beating Texas in a hard-fought game last Sunday, the Wildcats were on their way to a major letdown against Georgetown, down by as much as 15 points in the first half. But they made a furious comeback in the second half to take the lead and run away with a 76-63 victory. Caleb Daniels and Collin Gillespie each scored 18 points to lead the way, with Cole Swider scoring 10 important points off the bench.
Villanova can’t afford to take their next set of opponents likely, with Butler and Virginia up this week.
