1.) Tale of two halves in the 1st half

Nine games into the season, and it’s the same problems that make things difficult for the Red Storm to play the comfortable style of basketball that they want to play.

St. John’s, once again, struggled to put points on the board, and against a team like Creighton, that’s never a good thing.

They missed four of their first five attempts to start the game. During that stretch, the Johnnies were outscored 11-2, forcing Anderson to take a timeout much earlier than he anticipated.

Creighton, on the other hand,  was off to a hot start, making six of their first attempts from the floor and capitalized on five of their six opportunities from behind the arc.

The Red Storm always seems to make things harder for themselves by digging too much of a hole by starting their games on a scoring drought. The team is more than capable of being efficient scorers and they have the offensive weapons to make that happen.

Questions of cohesiveness and team chemistry must be out in the open regarding this squad filled with potential. Yes, there are key pieces on the floor that are playing in their first year in the Big Apple, but it’s becoming evident that St. John’s can only win games in which they don’t fall into scoring droughts.

Sunday’s contest with Georgetown at Carnesecca Arena will be the perfect opportunity for Coach Anderson’s squad to get their offense together and get its first win in conference play.
