1. Gonzaga overwhelmed Iowa’s Guards

What has been Iowa’s bread and butter up to this point is their three-point shooting and Garza. Garza played like he normally would, scoring 30 points on 13-15 from the field. However, their guards could not handle Gonzaga’s on both ends of the floor.

After draining seven three-pointers against North Carolina, Jordan Bohannon did not have one and finished with two points on 1-8 from the field. CJ Frederick also had five in that contest and had just eight points and one three-pointer on Saturday.

On the other end, Gonzaga was relentless against their guards. The trio of Suggs, Ayayi, and Nembhard finished with 51 points and 30 rebounds.

Gonzaga had averaged just five three-pointers per game heading into the contest. Mark Few saw something in the gameplan and chose to shoot from their early and often. The Bulldogs finished with 13 on the day, including 10 in the first 20 minutes.

One of the major keys in the game was to limit Iowa’s three-pointers and to make your own. Little was it known that Gonzaga’s plan was to outshoot the Hawkeyes. It was an impressive performance from Gonzaga to not only play great defense from the guards but also replicate their performance on the offensive end.
