Jeremiah Robinson-Earl on the perimeter

A prime example of how beautiful a sport basketball is, as Coach Wojciechowski is worrying about stopping the Wildcats’ guards on the inside, he will also need to worry about the ability to contain Jeremiah Robinson-Earl on the outside.

Robinson-Earl may be averaging less than a made three per game, but he is a streaky shooter, and for all intents and purposes, he has either hit two of four in a game or none. The player that will be responsible to find out which Robinson-Earl shows up, will be 6’11 center, Dawson Garcia.

The way Garcia (12.3 ppg) has been contributing to the Golden Eagles’ offense, his matchup with versus Robinson-Earl might be last year’s Big East Freshman of the Year versus this year’s. Even if Robinson-Earl does not have the deep shot dropping in this particular game, he will still make a difference, as he loves to hit the foul-line jumper.

The reason why Robinson-Earl has had such great success hitting open jumpers from the free-throw line is that, as you might have guessed already when his defender leaves to help against Gillespie in the post, Villanova’s 6’9 center is alone awaiting the pass for a jumper at the free-throw line. The punch, counter-punch between Coach Wojciechowski and Coach Wright is going to be interesting in itself.
