Two-win week

Despite suffering just their first defeat in a blow out loss, without Jones, to a top ten team in  Wisconsin, Lousiville dropped out of the AP Poll from being No. 23. After defeating a short-handed Pittsburgh team 74-64 on Tuesday the Cardinals have an opportunity to set the ship right and top off a two-win week by defeating Kentucky.

Victories over Pittsburgh and Kentucky will not be enough to get the Cardinals back into the AP Poll, but a loss to the struggling Wildcats could be enough to prevent them from entering it for awhile.

The degree to which Kentucky recovers by season’s end is yet to be determined, they will however be a tournament team and in March a victory over Kentucky will look better than it does in December. With No. 8 Tennessee and No. 14 Missouri representing the SEC in the AP Poll as neither team is perfect there is an opportunity for the Wildcats to get some quality victories.

After Kentucky the Cardinals will only have one game the following week, so no time is better than the present to go into a ‘longer stretch’ with two victories to feel good about.  With both teams needing to bounce back from a loss, albeit under different circumstances, there will be no lacking of drama.
