Trice versus Watts

The headline suggests Wiscon’s D’Mitrik Trice pairing up against Michigan State’s point guard Rocket Watts is the focus at point guard. While it was disappointing that Lousiville’s Carlik Jones was unable to play and square up versus Trice, this proposes a different challenge and conjures up different interests.

Since day one, Trice has been solidified as the Badgers’ point guard, the season did not start the same for Watts. The Spartans’ first game saw Watts come off the bench nursing an injury while Foster Loyer had a career game, eventually, Watts established himself as the starting point guard despite being more effective as a scoring two-guard. Loyer to his credit is a fantastic ‘change of pace’ point guard and has been averaging just over 19 minutes per game.

As Michigan State has two point guards, Trice is Wiscon’s only point guard. Such is illustrated by his minutes per game. In the three games that Wisconsin has not won by approximately forty points, Trice played thirty minutes or more. When Trice is not on the court Trevor Anderson has been given ball-handling duties, and he was serviceable versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Green Bay, and the short-handed Louisville
