Oakland Basketball: Golden Grizzlies beat Detroit Mercy in overtime thriller

2nd half recap

The second half started with Waterman completing a three-point play for the Titans. However, Oladapo and Townsend both made a basket each, and Williams would make a three-pointer to make it only a two-point Titans lead. Moore would make a mid-range jumper to tie the game up at 38 points apiece. Detroit Mercy’s Kuol would make both of his free throws to make the score 40-38 with under 17 minutes remaining in the game.

The Titans Davis made a nice mid-range jumper from the elbow to give Detroit Mercy a four-point lead. The Golden Grizzlies Oladapo made a layup to cut the lead to two and then make a nice hook shot to tie the game up with just under 13 minutes left. Detroit Mercy’s Kuol would make another three to give the Titans a one-point lead making the score 45-44.

Buay Koka would make his free throw after a nice two-hand dunk to give the Titans a four-point lead. The Golden Grizzlies Parrish would make a basket and Oladapo would make two free throws to tie the game up at 48 points apiece. With just under nine minutes left in the game, Oladapo would make a layup to give Oakland their first lead of the game. The Titans Davis made a nice reverse layup to tie the game at 50 points apiece.

Kuol made a three-pointer for his fifth made three of the game to give the Titans a three-point lead. The Golden Grizzlies would answer as Parrish took a steal for a layup. Detroit Mercy’s Matt Johnson then would make a layup to give Detriot Mercy the lead. Oaklands Parrish made a three from the wing to tie the game at 55 points apiece. The Titans Johnson made a three from the wing with just over four minutes remaining in the game to give Detroit Mercy a 58-55 lead.

Kuol would make two free throws to extend the Titan’s lead to five. Oakland’s Parrish then made a layup to cut Detroit Mercy’s lead to three. The Golden Grizzlies Zion Young would make a three from the top of the arch to tie the game at 60 points apiece. Kuol for the Titans after being fouled made both of his free throws for the Titans to regain their lead but Oakland’s Parrish once gain was aggressive to the basket and made a contested layup to tie the game.

After a made Titans basket, Oakland’s Moore got fouled on a three-point attempt. He would make one of his three free-throw attempts.  Detroit Mercy’s Marquell Fraser would make a layup and Oakland’s Young would make a three to tie it at 66. The score would stay that way heading to overtime.
