Davion Mitchell’s NBA Stock continues to skyrocket
Mitchell came into the year labeled as among the best perimeter defenders in CBB. After being awarded First Team All-Defense in the Big 12, Mitchell was named to the Preseason Naismith watch list.
Offense wasn’t the biggest part of Mitchell’s game from last season. He averaged 9.9 points per game on 32 percent shooting from beyond the arc. He has improved in every offensive statistical category with 13.2 points on 53 percent from beyond the arc.
He is also the ball handler for the Bears and majority of the time, will be the primary point guard on the floor. He also has 2.3 steals and six assists per contests so far on the season.
Mitchell was efficient in the first half with six points on two shots, leading the team with six rebounds and seven assists.
The plethora of guards that Baylor uses is among the best in college basketball. With the key returners of Butler and Teague, after testing the NBA Draft waters. Adding Adam Flagler and LJ Cryer adds two more offensive threats. With Mitchell becoming an offensive threat, he may be the best all-around player on this squad and has the highest ceiling for an NBA Draft pick.
Mitchell would finish the game with six points, six rebounds, and 12 assists on the contest on only three shots.
For the Bears, they will stay home and play on Wednesday against Alcorn State. For Central Arkansas, they will stay on the road to face Southland Foe, McNeese State.
