Alabama Crimson Tide

After an up-and-down non-conference campaign, it was hard to see how good they were going to be overall. We saw their potential last Saturday, upsetting a top-10 Tennessee Vols team. And the Tide has continued their run in the past week, landing a pair of impressive wins.

The first came on Tuesday, with an 86-71 victory over Florida. It was a balanced effort, with four players scoring 15+ points. It was much tougher on Saturday against Auburn, boosted by the season debut of five-star freshman point guard Sharife Cooper. He had an outstanding game, going for a game-high 26 points.

Yet Alabama was ready for a shootout between the rival schools. Both of them managed to score over 50 points each in the second half but it was the Crimson Tide who squeaked out a 94-90 win. They had a great freshman performance of their own from Josh Primo, who went for a team-high 22 points. Not only were both wins very impressive but they did it without starting point guard Jahvon Quinerly, out this week with an injury.

With these wins, Alabama is now 9-3 overall and off to a 4-0 start in the SEC. They’ve gone from a team around the bubble to now comfortably in and looking for a quality seed. With Kentucky and Arkansas up next, the Tide has even more opportunities to bolster their resume.
