Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines had an impressive 19-point victory over Northwestern in a ranked matchup to put themselves in a wonderful position for the initial NET rankings that came out Monday. Gonzaga was No. 1 and Baylor was No. 2 as expected, with Tennessee, Illinois, and Villanova rounding out the top-5. But it was Michigan at No. 6, an impressive feat for the program that was unbeaten.

The team has another ranked matchup a few days ago against a hot Minnesota squad. Yet freshman big man Hunter Dickinson was even hotter, going for a season-high 28 points to lead Michigan to an 82-57 convincing victory. That put the Wolverines at 10-0 overall and in first place in the Big Ten at 5-0.

The metrics are now loving the Wolverines, up as high as No. 3 in the NET rankings and resting in the top-5 overall at the moment. The early Big Ten run has given them plenty of breathing room for the next month after a lackluster non-conference schedule of opponents. They have two more ranked opponents to play in Wisconsin and Minnesota again. Beat the Badgers and there will be national title conversations occurring outside of Ann Arbor.
