Bracketology 2021: Alabama, Kentucky, and Michigan among biggest winners
UConn Huskies
A team that has dealt with a number of canceled games, this past week was the first level of normalcy for the team in ages. Yet it also was tough, with a pair of road matchups against a desperate Marquette program and Butler, where even without fans is a tough place to win at.
UConn was losing to the Golden Eagles by a fair amount earlier in the week until forward Tyler Polley went off for 23 points off the bench to get the 65-54 victory. Then against the Bulldogs, Polley again led the way with 19 points off the bench, including five made three-pointers. What makes this win even more impressive is that they did it without leading scorer James Bouknight as well.
The Huskies are now 6-1 overall, with just an overtime loss to Creighton. They have a win over USC as well, with no bad losses and a NET ranking in the top-30. They’ll have plenty of opportunities to solidify their resume in the coming weeks but to go 2-0 on the road in the Big East and avoid a bad loss is sometimes just as good as getting a quality win. They’ll look to make it three in a row on the road on Monday at DePaul.
